Click on a key left of C5 and you will hear it with the pitch adjusted up. Once it is stretched you will click on on the INS tab and go back to the keyboard and go from there. This will prompt Fruity Loops to decode the song again and stretch it (which can take a minute or two so be patient). Now all you really have to do here is turn the knob to the right to either the first notch or the 2nd notch. By default it is set exactly to the middle. Picture Here I circled the knob that you will be using. You will click on the SMP tab on the sampler.

Now I will show you how to slow the tempo down but keep the same pitch. Just click on a key and you will hear it. Click the black key immediately to the left and it will go even lower, you can go all the way down to the far left of the keyboard but it will be insanely slow and low pitched. If you click the white key of the left of C5 it will go lower. Clicking on the left of that will lower it. Now click the note on the right of that will raise the tempo and pitch. Here is a picture of where that note is incase you're confused. Click this so you hear the song and get a comparison for when you change it. If you click on it you will hear the song played at normal speed and normal pitch. Now the 1st white key in C5 is the C note. It is set up like a how an actual piano is. The Keyboard has numbers at the top portion of it numbered C1 through C9. Now you will see the keyboard at the bottom of the sampler. You will click the INS tab at the top of the Sampler. I will show you how to do both, but I will start with slow tempo and slow pitch first. You can either slow down the song and the pitch will slow down with it, or you can slow down the song and adjust the pitch so it stays the same. Now heres where it starts to get alittle tricky. You can see the actual sound waves of it at the bottom of the sampler.

When you click open Fruity Loops will say its Decoding it and the song will appear in the sampler. I'm going to use Modest Mouse - Out of Gas. Simply find the song in your computer where you have it saved and click on it. From there it will open a prompt box like opening any other file on your computer. Now with the sampler open you are going to click the folder icon and pick what song you want to slow down. Clicking on the word is how you show/hide it. Just go to the step sequencer (top left of the picture) and click on the word Sampler and it will open then. Now if the sampler box doesn't open up by itself, its no big deal.

This will bring up a new box on Fruity Loops that looks like this. Out of this list you're going to click Sampler Picture of where its at on the list You're going to go down the list to Insert > and an even larger list will appear. When you right click on one of them you should get a list like this. Is to go to the Step Sequencer and right click on any of the default boxes loaded there. This is where you can add effects and tweak the sound how you see fit.

This is where you'll see your whole file before you save it.īlue is the Mixer. I circled the respective areas and followed them to the button that shows/hides them. Start by opening Fruity Loops 9 (I hope thats the version you have because its the one I'm using). Zoom in on the pictures if they aren't clear enough I'm sure there are others that might be easier/harder but this has worked for me. This method can take anywhere from 5 minutes - 30 minutes depending on how slow you want the song to be and what audio effects you add to it. Hope you guys appreciate it, it took me 2 1/2 hours to make This is a tutorial for Fruity Loops 9, if you're using a different program or an older version I doubt this will help.
